Ballydugan Mill lies just outside Downpatrick amongst the rolling hills of Co. Down. A former flour mill it has been thoughtfully and beautifully restored and reimagined into one of the most well-known Wedding venues in Northern Ireland. And it was here that Matthew and Kayla chose to celebrate their marriage.
I had the pleasure of getting to meet them a year or so before for a little beach shoot at Whitepark Bay (go check out the blog!) These two were so natural and at ease in front of the camera that night so I couldn’t wait for their big day to roll around. Fast forward to 2020 and with Covid unfortunately their celebrations had to be postponed a few months. However, they did manage to tie the knot at a small mountainside ceremony on their original June date. How lovely!
Onwards to early October and it was time to celebrate this couple and their love with all their family and friends. But first, following morning preparations, Matthew and Kayla chose to do some bridal party shots at Inch Abbey, en route to the ceremony which was a great time saver. I even managed to grab the two of them for some shots here.
There was such a relaxed vibe to this day and yet you could feel the intimacy and joy during the ceremony as friends and family each played their part. With the call for dinner just around there was just enough time for some family photos and I even stole some more moments in the beautiful light with this pair. Heart eyes for Kayla in that Riki Dalal dress… you look well too Matthew!
Huge thanks to Matthew and Kayla for having me to capture it all. Many blessings to you both!

Hi, I’m Adam (Wild Fern)
I love capturing the connection between couples and all those moments on a wedding day not everyone sees. The combination of some beautiful natural light, an awesome couple and some epic scenery helps create the magic.
